Did I learn anything from this book? Of course not. But in this work, Lawrence Sanders introduced a police detective whose name escapes me (I think it was an obviously Irish surname..I think his first name was actually Edward). But, he was a curious character. While engaged in a murder investigation he enjoyed making himself any manner of huge sandwiches which Sanders always described in some detail together with the beer or ale he was enjoying while eating the sandwich creation. Of course, using a character like the detective (he was not in every one of Sanders' novels) he was able to describe the way the particular killer's mind work. I just enjoyed this book more because of the characters.
